Week 1 went by way too quick.

Week 1 was messy and unorganised, but I only have myself to blame. We started the week by looking at our proposal and pitching our initial ideas and from there we collected valuable feedback and critical criticisms on how we can further explore and develop of ideas. For me personally, my proposal pitch was narrow, focused, I knew what needs to be done and straight to the point. HOWEVER, in doing so, I was narrowing myself down way too much causing me to focus on one idea and one idea only. Hence, the majority of the feedback I received, encouraged me to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. I was narrowing myself down to one idea way too quickly and should open myself to other possibilities. I'm working with the theme of home and homesickness. To bring care and comfort to someone at a time of need. You can phone a friend or skype family but nothing feels quite the same as having something physical by you. Taking into consideration all of these points, I took 5 steps back and rephrased and restructured my proposal for deadline. My original plan was to prepare the survey for homesickness to see who it affects and what they do to counter it on Fri, Sat and Sunday (23- 25/02). However, due to some last minute personal errands I was not able to complete the survey in time. The new plan is to do the research on homesickness and to understand homesickness over Mon - Tuesday (26-27/02) and to simultaneously develop a better and more effective survey. The aim is to distribute the survey to both home and international students at the same time, as initially it was planned to distribute them separately. To ensure a more valid and fair test, I will distribute the same survey to both home and international students to see how it affects each party more and how it affect the respective party differently. This is the plan, this is what I need to achieve. Week 2 has to be more structured and organised compare to week 1. Note to self. Print out action plan in a3/a2 and mount on wall for daily reminder and updates.
