So where were we, oh yes. Korea. Okay so, uhm how do I put this...The file is basically broken. Having duplicated the magpies, redesigning the rose of sharon, it was still too many layers for the file to handle. Hence, lag spikes became a normal affair and the file kept force shutting down. Because of this reason, I've decided to 'abandon' the current Korea design and possibly redesign from scratch again. Maybe, I will try something else and revisit Korea again.
Next on my list of countries was Japan. The land of the rising sun. Japan was a design I was very much looking forward to. I didn't have a huge target audience for Japan but I worked with what I had. Japanese designs, minimalist yet powerful. I started of by doing some research on the country, what the national icons were, what made the country recognisable and all of its symbols. For many, Japan is very symbolised with its famous Sakura tree and chrysanthemum flower. The Chrysanthemum was the national flower of Japan and taking inspiration from the Kimono patterns, I designed the pattern of the Seigaiha (wave) kimono pattern with chrysanthemum scattered around to fill the negative space. Adding the symbolic red dot from the Japanese flag with a backdrop of mount fuji I made the design very representative of Japan and with 3 colour palettes, we quickly came to a decision and the design was finalised and immediately sent off to Contrado for printing.
